Vote, Inkster. It's now or never.
Inkster has about 17,000 registered voters. In many elections, only about 3,000 of us cast a ballot. Until that changes, Inkster will keep landing at the bottom of Lansing's priority list.
INKSTER, Mich. Here is a number every Inkster resident should know: 3,000.
That is roughly how many of us show up to vote in many Inkster elections. It is a small number for a city with about 17,000 registered voters. It means that, election after election, more than four out of five registered voters in Inkster stay home.
And the people we send to Lansing notice.
Inkster does not elect a state representative on its own. We share a state House district, District 26, with Garden City and parts of Westland and Romulus, according to the office of state Rep. Dylan Wegela, who represents it. Our neighbors in that district are larger, and their voters turn out in bigger numbers.
Early voting is open at Inkster City Hall. Here's everything you need before Nov. 1.
