INKSTER, Mich. Inkster has not had its own school district since 2013, when Inkster Public Schools was dissolved and its territory was split among neighboring districts (our earlier story explains how). But Inkster voters still help choose who runs the schools their children attend.

On Nov. 3, each Inkster voter will see the school board race for whichever district covers their address: Wayne-Westland, Westwood, Romulus or Taylor. You vote only in your own district's race.

Which race is on my ballot?

Check your sample ballot at the Michigan Voter Information Center. Enter your address and it shows exactly which school board race you'll see.

Questions: Inkster City Clerk, 313-563-9770.

Election Day: Tuesday, Nov. 3, 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Early voting at Inkster City Hall runs through Sunday, Nov. 1, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Our full voting guide.

The candidates below come from the Wayne County Clerk's official candidate list for the Nov. 3, 2026 election. School board races are nonpartisan, so no party labels appear on the ballot.

About the endorsements

The only endorsements we found in these four races come from the Michigan Education Association, the statewide teachers' union, which recommends Herzberg, Lewis and Hines in Wayne-Westland. Its list, last updated Oct. 16, shows no recommendations yet in Westwood, Romulus or Taylor.

We did not find endorsements from elected officials in any of these races. "None found" means we searched and found nothing public; it does not mean a candidate has no supporters.

Are you a candidate or campaign? Send us your endorsements and a link to your website or social media at hello@inksternow.com, and we'll update this story.

How to research the candidates

  • Read their answers in the VOTE411 voter guide from the League of Women Voters. Enter your address to see your race.
  • Look for candidate forums. Districts, PTAs and local groups often post recordings online.
  • Search each candidate's name with the district's name for news coverage, websites and campaign pages.
  • Watch the board. Current members' votes appear in each district's board meeting minutes on the district website.
