Inkster City Council
When they meet, what they're deciding, how to watch, and how to reach the person who represents your district. Every decision about your taxes, your streets and what gets built next to your house happens in this room.
The short version
- Regular meetings are 7:00 p.m. on the first and third Monday of each month.
- They're held at Council Chambers, 26215 Trowbridge, Inkster, and they're open to the public under Michigan's Open Meetings Act.
- You get to speak. Public comment is part of every regular meeting, you don't need to be on the agenda.
- Agendas go up before the meeting. Minutes go up after they're approved.

Watch the meetings
The city posts meeting video to its own YouTube channel. If you can't make it to Trowbridge on a Monday night, this is the next best thing; and it's the full record, not a clip.
City of Inkster on YouTube
Council meetings, Planning Commission and IPAC-TV programming.
One thing worth knowing
On May 4, 2026, the council adopted a resolution discontinuing live streaming of its meetings and moving to a recorded-first model, meetings are posted after the fact rather than broadcast as they happen.
That's a meaningful change for anyone who can't attend in person, and it's the kind of decision that deserves follow-up: how quickly does video actually go up, and has anything slipped? We're asking. If you've tried to watch a meeting and couldn't find the video, tell us, that's a story.
How to be heard
Speak at a meeting
Public comment is part of every regular meeting. Show up, sign in if asked, and say your piece. You're usually given a few minutes. You do not need an appointment and you do not need to be an expert, "this is what it's like on my street" is exactly what they need to hear.
Tip: write down your first sentence and your ask. Three clear minutes beats ten rambling ones.
Put it in writing
Email your district's council member directly, the addresses are below and they're public record. Copy the clerk so it lands in the file.
For documents the city holds but hasn't published, file a FOIA request. Michigan gives them five business days to respond.
Who represents you
Inkster has a Council/Mayor government. The mayor and six council members are elected at large to four-year terms. These are public contact details published by the city.
